The West Virginia Board of Nursing requires all registered nurses to complete 12 hours of continuing education (CE) during each renewal period inclusive of required continuing education on substance abuse and the mental health of veterans.
On Feb. 27, 2018, and April 4, 2018, the Center for Education and Organizational Development (CEOD) is offering a Veterans Mental Health Course (8-10 a.m.) and Substance Abuse Update (10:15-11:30 a.m.) at the WVU Medicine Operations Support Center, CEOD Training Room 3.
Attached are flyers for the mental health course and the substance abuse update that provide more details.
For questions regarding the substance abuse course, contact Jenn Rable at rablej@wvumedicine.org. For questions about the veterans mental health course, contact Anthea Rhoades at rhoadesa@wvumedicine.org.
Information about the West Virginia Board of Nursing CE requirements can be found at the bottom of this page.
The guidelines and resources for CE for best prescribing practice and drug diversion training and mental health conditions for veterans and their families are located under the resource tab on this page.
The West Virginia Board of Nursing advises: “Print off and keep your CE certificates for each continuing education activity in a safe place so you may provide each individual CE certificate of completion when audited. The board performs an audit annually on a randomly selected sample of licensees.”
